The ship's Engineers are responsible for the entire ship, and if it breaks, it's their job to fix it. Engineers help maintain the ship's core, its subsystems, atmospherics, and generally any and every bit of electronic and mechanical equipment on the ship.

Engineers will also have to venture outside the ship to perform repairs on the exterior, preventing breaches and potentially saving lives. To do this, they must equip an EVA suit, because if they don't they will suffocate and die.

They report directly to the Engineering Officer.

Duties[edit | edit source]

The Reactor[edit | edit source]

Main article: Guide to the Reactor

The reactor is the primary focus of your job in Engineering and the primary source of power of the ship. Maintaining it, as well as starting and stopping it, is an essential skill in being a competent engineer. An intricate knowledge of each of the reactor's parts will aid you heavily in creating an enjoyable roleplay experience.

Robotics[edit | edit source]

Robotics is the construction, maintenance, and upgrading of robots and cyborgs aboard the ship. DO NOT TOUCH THE AI. Robots will inevitably need dents hammered out, cuts welded back together, upgraded power cells, specialization upgrades, and plenty of equipment that you'll be able to provide. Constructing new robots should be done with the permission of an officer (and probably a willing player, though you can of course roleplay the existence of a new robot without them actually being there).

EVA[edit | edit source]

In the rare case that something's broken outside of the ship or there's a breach, you'll need to equip a hardsuit and perform an EVA (ExtraVehicular Activity). You cannot survive in space without a hardsuit, unsurprisingly, but wearing one inside the ship serves no purpose.
