The Nile[edit | edit source]

The SDCN Nile (LCR-75) was a small but durable Ceres-class light cruiser. It was launched from Gibraltar Shipyards, Earth on It was the 6th ship built of its class and the newest addition of the Ares Fleet (as of 2088). It was one of the newest ships in the fleet, launched on the 21st of January, 2088. With its sister ship the Queen Elizabeth II

Decks[edit | edit source]

The Nile Had 6 fully usable decks.

Deck 0 was where the cargo bay was located which took up most of the deck. Inside here there where spare parts for the ship along with food supplies and storages

Deck 1 was where the crew quarters were located, they were equipped with bathrooms and other living facilities essential for crew comfort. This deck is where the engineering section starts.

Deck 2 was where the brig and the armoury. Engineering section ended here

Deck 3 was where the essentials of the crew were located, such as the med-bay, mess hall, gymnasium and a small recreational room.

Deck 4 was where the officer’s quarters were located along with the Captain’s and the Firs Officer’s ones.

Deck 5 comprised most of the aft of the ship, it had only one room, the bridge. This design layout was later adopted by one of the first FTL capable ship, the SDCN Escapade (HSC-133).

Crew[edit | edit source]

Since this ship was not built for long tactical missions and explorations and more specialized in space-combat, capable of a crew of 40. Both the Spec-ops and the Research departments are lacking. Unlike the majority of ships in the Sol Defense Corps, the Nile did not change its personnel frequently, due to the war with the Ares Freedom Fighters, causing all personnel to be stationed aboard the vessel for the duration of it.

Armament[edit | edit source]

Since the Nile is a light cruiser, it was a very manoeuvrable ship, but also had a significant battery, since it was part of the Ares Fleet. Unfortunately, the ship was not equipped with any torpedo launchers.

The Nile is equipped with the following armament:

  • 22x (11 Starboard, 11 Portside) point defense turrets
  • 8x (4 Starboard 4 Portside) heavy artillery
  • 4x (2 Starboard, 2 Portside) medium-yield autocannons
  • 12x (6 Starboard, 6 Portside) laser turrets

The turrets featured on the ship are automated under normal operation but under combat circumstances, due to the amount of battery, it is recommended that a gunnery crew be called in to assert manual control.

First Battle[edit | edit source]

The SDCN Nile reached a tragic ending in the Battle of the Low Mariner Orbit, which took place in low mars orbit just above the Mariner district, it was assaulted by 2 stolen Shamballa-class Stealth Attack Ships, now renamed AFS Canyon Sunset (SAS-11) and AFS Red Sand (SAS-18) launched straight from an unknown AFF facility in the Mariner district, severely crippling the Nile.

Present Day[edit | edit source]

As of 2114, the SDCN Nile (after having gone some major revampments) is still serving in the Ares fleet, with the same crew it had 26 years before, making it the only ship in the whole Sol Defense Corps Navy who did not have a crew change since it’s launch in 2088.
